All operating machines exhibit some vibration. No matter how well designed, manufactured, installed, and operated, they all experience excitation forces, which cause some vibration and noise. While this vibration is expected, excessive amounts can damage a machine, create noise, and even be dangerous. Many things can cause vibration. Understanding these causes helps troubleshoot machine vibration problems. The Vibration Causes and Characteristics training course describes the characteristics of vibration-causing mechanical faults.
